
The Eight of Hearts is an ilustration I was commissioned to do by Martin Halfhide to convey the symbolism and stories surrounding the playing card with eight hearts.
These are some of the first ideas I sketched with pen, pencil and watercolour on paper.

I spent my time designing and thinking about the anatomy that the main figure would have. It should be realistic, deep, dark and symbolic.
Once I got the overall design, I started an A2 drawing, see some details below.



The photograph below is the final drawing, I used blue and red micromina. Once this stage on paper was finished, I scanned the whole drawing and moved to Photoshop to work on the colour, lighting and shadows.
